WHAT

A reading lounge, set up like a living room, is now open five days a week for children and their parents, bookish peeps, and anyone who wants to come check out our small but mighty (and growing!) library of English and Spanish literature.

Reading Buddies is offered on Monday and Thursday, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., aiming to support all readers—in particular, students enrolled in the Spanish dual-language-immersion program and secondary pathway in Park City School District. Volunteers read in their dominant language to participants whose primary language is the opposite of theirs, nestling into the Lounge's reading nooks. A gratis light meal is served prior to each session.

WHO

Readers of any age can join Reading Buddies or stop by and just hang out in our lively, cozy dog-themed lounge.

Stay-at-home/work-from-home parents/caregivers and their tots are welcome to join storytime circle on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 a.m. with a local author.

Students can get community service hours by volunteering to be a reading buddy; helping procure books and catalog our library; and posting flyers and on social media about Lectura Lounge and its activities and events.

Our location is in the Prospector Park neighborhood, in close proximity to McPolin Elementary, Treasure Mountain Junior High, and Park City High School, as well as public transit.

WHY

To keep children engaged in reading and in learning their second language, promoting multilingualism and overall literacy.
